Real-Time & Interactive Visual Artist

As Alvie Starr, I create real-time visuals shaped by sound, movement, and the environment. I use projectors, sensors, and digital media to bring interactive spaces to life.

During my university years, I had the privilege of studying abroad in Montreal, Canada, supported by Japan’s Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT) through the Tobitate! Study Abroad Japan initiative. This program encourages Japanese students to expand their horizons and cultivate a global mindset through international study opportunities. While in Montreal, I was captivated by "Aura," an immersive light and sound show at the Notre-Dame Basilica produced by the renowned multimedia studio Moment Factory, which ignited my passion for installation art. After graduating, I further honed my skills at the program's office and later at the University of Tokyo, before embarking on an independent career in 2023.

Since then, I have been working in a variety of formats. My work ranges from installation-based visuals for music videos and live performances to interactive visuals for theater and exhibitions. I often collaborate with musicians, dancers, and spatial designers to create real-time experiences that bring together emotion and environment.

Abiraahmi – Validation (2025)
Live Performance / Music Program (SanTV)
Role: Visual Artist

I created audio-reactive visuals for Validation, a live performance by Abiraahmi filmed for SanTV’s Artists in Spotlight series. The visuals responded in real time to the music, enhancing the emotional energy of the performance through abstract light and motion.

BMSG MARINE – Memoria (2024)

Music Video
Role: Installation Artist

I created installation art for the music video Memoria by BMSG MARINE, an artist unit under the label BMSG. The visual elements I designed were integrated into the filmed environment. Released in September 2024, the video has since surpassed 4 million views on YouTube and was featured in connection with BMSG FES 2024 at K Arena Yokohama.

OUT! / "a_8 (2024)
Contemporary Theater Performance
Role: Visual Artist

I created interactive visuals for OUT! / "a_8", a contemporary theater performance that explored themes of perception and social structure. The work combined acting, dance, and technology, with visuals designed to deepen the emotional and conceptual impact of the piece.

Galerie Projection – wish it was snowing out (2023)
Installation / New Year Party
Role: Real-Time & Interactive Visual Artist

I presented wish it was snowing out as part of the Galerie Projection program at a New Year Party hosted by Galeria Kollektiva in Kassel, Germany. Through abstract light and motion-based visuals, the work contributed to the atmosphere of the space and shaped the audience’s experience.
